Marina Bay Sands Team Members have been giving back to the community in various ways. Recently, Team Members raised more than $12,000 for the local food distribution charity, Food from the Heart.
Later this month, two Team Members will shave their heads in support of Hair for Hope 2012.
Hair for Hope is run by the Children’s Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of improving the quality of life for children with cancer by enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. This is the campaign’s 10th consecutive year and the event will be held on 28-29 July 2012 at VivoCity, Singapore.
Team member Joseph ‘JR’ Hickman will have his head shaved at VivoCity on Sunday, 29 July 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in remembrance of his mother Gerri Hickman, a teacher at the Singapore American School who lost her battle with cancer in 2005.
JR was inspired to join the cause last year when he learned that another Team Member from Finance – Vicu Hong would be participating. On his second time, JR said “I feel it’s a way to help the community, as well as pay homage to those in need and my mother.”
Another colleague inspired by Vicu is Sarah Teoh who decided to go under the clippers this year to “do something different” and reach out to others by participating for a good cause. Her department has been very supportive and has contributed towards her goal. “I am very appreciative of the support my fellow colleagues have given me. I hope to achieve my targeted amount to fulfill my goal!” she shared.
Sarah’s scheduled timing will be at 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 28 July 2012 in Vivo City.
