We are proud to announce that Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) bestowed multiple honors on the Venetian | Palazzo Marketing Team in 2013. Each year, HSMAI, a worldwide organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality, travel and tourism industry, honors outstanding achievement in advertising, public relations and digital marketing with its Adrian Awards. These awards recognize “creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality, travel and tourism-related marketing.”

Last year, the Adrian Awards commended the Venetian | Palazzo Marketing Team with a Gold Award in Advertising for its Winter in Venice campaign, a Gold Award in Public Relations for the Grazie Diamond employee program, a Silver Award in Advertising for its “Indescribable” television commercial for The Palazzo and a Bronze Award in Advertising for the Culinary Clash campaign.

Sands Cares: Clean the World Event

Team members from The Venetian, Palazzo, and Sands Expo volunteered their time at Clean the World’s Las Vegas location last week by putting together nearly 2,000 hygiene kits that will be sent to underserved populations in our local communities and around the world. Las Vegas Sands has dedicated $1 million to Clean the World in 2014 as part of our new global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares. Clean the World works diligently to collect and recycle discarded hygiene products from hospitality companies and distributes them to those in risk of life-threatening hygiene-related diseases, such as pneumonia, cholera and dysentery. Today we are proud to elevate our commitment to giving back with announcement of a new global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares.

We created Sand Cares to harness the power of our philanthropic giving, volunteerism and charitable partnerships across our regions. Sands Cares comprises three focus areas: supporting people in the company and the hospitality industry, making local communities where Las Vegas Sands operates a better place to live, and reducing environmental impact on the planet.  We regard these areas as the top priorities for our company’s corporate citizenship efforts.

Sands Cares will come to life through two major partnerships at the corporate level, along with renewed focus on the areas we support in our local communities through our properties.  At the local level, we plan to tackle the most pressing issues in each region to help make local communities a better place to live and attract new people and businesses to the area.

At the corporate level, Las Vegas Sands will donate $7 million over five years to the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Our funding will help UNLV develop the world’s premier hospitality education program for working professionals around the world to prepare our industry’s future leaders.

We’ve also given $1 million to the international nonprofit Clean the World, which will greatly accelerate the organization’s unique mission to collect and recycle discarded hygiene products from hospitality companies and distribute them to populations at risk for life-threatening, but highly preventable hygiene-related diseases.  Our team members will build thousands of hygiene kits to go back into their local communities, and our funding will help Clean the World expand its operations around the world to save more lives.

The Lost Boys, as they and more than 20,000 other refugees during the Second Sudanese Civil War are known, are a truly inspiring story of triumph and resilience in the face of adversity. Las Vegas Sands Prepares for Earth Hour 2014

For the fifth consecutive year, the Sands Eco 360° team will be participating in Earth Hour. The worldwide movement, organized by the World Wildlife Fund, challenges organizations and individuals alike to take part in sustainable practices by turning off their lights for one hour on March 29th from 8:30pm-9:30pm. In addition to all of our properties shutting off their exterior lights, we will be rewarding the property with the highest Team Member participation with up to $10,000 which will be donated to the eco-friendly charity of the winning property’s choice.

Our goal is to continue to push the boundaries of energy awareness by engaging both our internal and external stakeholders. By participating in Earth Hour, a global event that spans over 7,000 cities around the world, we are able to increase awareness regarding energy conservation and the impact we each have on our planet.

Las Vegas Sands recently held its first-ever Sands Supplier Excellence Awards, recognizing the outstanding services of its suppliers and vendors around the world. During several Sands Supplier Appreciation Dinners in Macao, Singapore, Las Vegas, and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the company acknowledged its indebtedness to the local communities in which it does business.

“Our company is not an isolated island, but part of the greater communities in which we do business. These awards recognize that fact,” said Michael Leven, president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. “Our success at LVS and the success of our suppliers have gone hand-in-hand. Our partnerships have created mutually beneficial results and we look forward to continuing to build on these results.”

Las Vegas Sands expressed appreciation for its supplier partnerships with awards given in seven categories. From among thousands of service providers and suppliers, hundreds were nominated by each location’s business units and employees, representing businesses such as construction and development, furniture and equipment, facilities and services, food and beverage, gaming equipment, technology and IT services. There was much to celebrate here in Singapore on the first weekend of the New Year!
Not only did Marina Bay Sands play host to South East Asia’s inaugural UFC Fight Night, hometown boy Royston Wee emerged on top by unanimous decision after dominating all three rounds against Philippines’ Dave Galera. What a remarkable night it was as thousands cheered on our local MMA hero!
